Stabbing altercations in Georgetown
Seems lately there has been more incidents then we've been accustomed to as of late, when it comes to the level of violence perpetrated by people who are getting into some squabble or another. That late night trek to the gas station for soft serve, beer, or smokes might end up being a little more dramatic then one would like.
This one, taking place yesterday, was by the Chevron Station on East Marginal near that clusterfuck intersection of 1st Ave S:
The two apparently got into a shooting match. The suspect left his car, then punched the victim several times as he sat in his car. The victim pulled a knife and stabbed the suspect in the face and neck.
Just last Friday, there was an altercation on Carleton right off Bailey, near the old Mayor's House:
At 2:10 a.m, the suspect and victim were drinking at Carleton Avenue South just south of South Bailey Street when the two began to argue. According to a witness, the suspect accused the victim of stealing something. The witness walked outside and saw the suspect stab the victim in the back.
Then a couple of weeks ago, we have this one near the playfield:
A fight among three transients Monday night in Georgetown resulted in one stabbing and one arrest...The one man called police. Officers discovered that he had been stabbed. The 40-year-old man, whose injuries weren't life-threatening, was taken to a hospital.
So, to recap: drinking while getting into an altercation with some strangers at the gas station or the park: probably not a good idea. It's worth noting that all of the people involved in these incidents were full grown adults, and not even from around the neighborhood. And given what recently happened in South Park, maybe violence such as this might be a bigger concern, then say, graffiti or small time prostitution.
